SA Life Benefits Specialists (Pty) Ltd is an authorised Financial Services Provider, specialising primarily as Underwriting Administrators for Group Funeral Insurance. SA Life Benefits, (as we refer to it in short) has been in existence since October 2004 and it came together when two prominent parties saw the value in joining experience and management skills into a joint venture. SA Life Benefits acts as the national service provider in assistance business across South Africa. Gert Loubser joined a prominent funeral Insurer 26 years ago, learning his skills at the coalface and 20 years later he made a move that saw him build a satisfied customer base in this highly competitive market using the skills that he had gained whilst furthering his knowledge and insight in this market.

African Unity is a registered Long Term Insurer and an Authorised Financial Services Provider with offices situated in Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. African Unity Insurance originated over 40 years ago. It was established on 15 December 1967 as a Friendly Society offering sick pay to blue collar workers well before this became standard practice. The company has evolved over the years, obtaining its Long-term Insurance license in 2003. Although the company has undergone various name changes, including Algoa Income Protection Plan (AIPP), AIC Insurance and more recently in 2008, African Unity Insurance. The commitment to their clients remains steadfast. African Unity Insurance's BBBEE status has been evaluated in terms of section 9 of the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Act (Act 53 of 2003) using the QSE Scorecard and is rated as a level two contributor.

For these two market leaders it was almost inevitable that they would join forces as innovation, responsibility, market knowledge, insight and commitment are common to both parties. SA Life Benefits Specialist (Pty) Ltd head-office is based in Constantia Park, Pretoria. SA Life Benefits has Underwriting authority with a number of companies of which Old Mutual Insurance is the largest. SA Life Benefits will be positioned to provide competitive products in both the compulsory and voluntary markets, of the South African Funeral Insurance market.

Our Administration

SA Life Benefits invested extensively in the development of an in-house software administration system. This sophisticated software system empowers our customers to manage their various group portfolios to member level. Extensive reporting is available to the owners with information regarding their groups and / or members.
